Yasmeen - Blue Jeans (Mike Rizzo Mix)

A remix of Blue Jeans from Yasmeen's album 'When Will It Be Me? The knock on most of today's teen divas is that it's hard to imagine them doing more mature material--or being capable of handling it if they try (see Brandy's Full Moon for examples). But 20-year-old Yasmeen Sulieman has managed to avoid that problem completely on her debut, laden with the sort of over-the-top adult balladry unheard since Whitney Houston's primary occupation was singing instead of dodging drug rumors. With one contribution by MOR maven Diane Warren ("I Don't Wanna Smile") and two more from Derek Bramble, including the string-drenched title track, When Will It Be Me is the sound of a girl who comes all grown up. Which isn't terrible--too bad Lauryn Hill or India.Arie don't create melodies like these--but does seem kind of stuffy, especially when contrasted with the few memorable times Yasmeen gets hipper and loose, as on "Just Wanna Be Lonely" or Jazzy Pha's playful "Blue Jeans." After all, you're only young once. (Review from Yahoo)
